Special infant formula may not prevent allergies

There was an interesting article which discussed the promotion of a particular infant formula that was promoted as being hypoallergenic. Following re-assessment of the infant formula those claims may not be as accurate as first thought. The article stated that infants with a family history of allergies to foods or environmental allergens who were fed the hypoallergenic whey product after they stopped breastfeeding were found to be just as likely to develop allergies later as children who were fed milk or soy formulas (online June 23rd in The Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology) read more.
